Valentine’s Day Competition Winner Announced!

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! After carefully reading everyone’s entries in the Valentine’s Day competition and enjoying all of them, I sat back and thought about which one should win. I sat and sat and sat and thought and thought and thought…. and couldn’t decide as they were all so wonderful! So in the end I read them out to my family and there were unanimous in their choice…. the Hot Air Balloon entry over the Hunter Valley! They positively shouted it out! So thanks Cathy for your imaginative entry and I will be in touch shortly to discuss!

This session is called ‘Just Because’ – no wedding, no engagement, no newborn… Just bccause two people love each other is enough to capture it forever. Christine is a photographer herself, and has recently started Pobke Photography in Canberra. I was so happy when she contacted me for a ‘Just Because’ session with her husband, Clinton. We chatted on the phone organising the shoot and threw around a heap of ideas and let me tell you, Christine is a woman of details. It was a very VERY hot day, but we managed to keep our spirits high with some wading and wine …. the shoot lasted a good 3.5hrs so I am splitting the post into two. Here is the first part, enjoy!

(Every summer holidays, I complete a personal project of a Photo a Day. Its about us, simple moments bound into an Art Book so we never forget. Just for us.)

Camping before school goes back. Couldn’t sleep so was up early. There were no clocks so I don’t know the exact time. But it was so early that the light was blue.

Haircuts for school. We go to a proper Italian barber and the boys love it. Reminds me of Italy. There are always caps on the hat stand, half drunk espresso shots, men shouting hello in Italian as they pass by and the Italian newspapers that the kids try and decipher as we wait our turn.

Someone’s tooth is loose. Someone also hates the camera. I pleaded my case that it was important to put it our album so he gave me 0.02 seconds. I got lucky!

Inside 24hrs, Roger Federer and the Australian Open organised a huge charity match to support the Haiti crisis. They raised more than $150,000 and we managed to get front row seats. We were treated to a fun match between Roger Federer, Andy Roddick, Serena Williams, Kim Clijsters, Lleyton Hewitt, Rafael Nadal, Sam Stosur and Novak Djokovic. They all had mics on and were chatting and laughing – and the tennis was amazing! Needless to say, the biggest tennis fan of the family was very impressed :) especially when he appeared waving on the big screen!
