Shoot the Chef Finalist 2010

I am a finalist for the 3rd year running in the annual Sydney Food Festival Shoot the Chef Photography Competition. My image is on display at Star City for the Month of October and appeared in Sydney Morning Herald Good Living Magazine this week.

This year I decided to approach the Wayside Chapel as I knew they ran a cafe for the homeless there and really wanted to showcase a chef that was doing something great for our community. I met Bex who runs the cafe there and she taking it in a new direction by offering fresh, home cooked food for the homeless in Kings Cross. The shoot was interesting as we had to shoot around being being served as the place never stops – we were interrupted by the police at one point too. The focus was on the colourful little place she runs there. I called the image ‘Love vs Hate – You Decide the Winner’ which is the poster to the side of her in the image, and the Wayside Chapel slogan. I also wanted to include her famous chalkboard with its fabulous home cooked menu.
