Last year I was lucky enough to be a finalist last year in the Sydney Morning Herald Shoot the Chef Photography Competition 2008 and have just found out that I have made it through the first round of judging for 2009.

My subject choice this year was Bill and Toni’s Restaurant in East Sydney (72-74 Stanley St). My husband and I have eaten at this restaurant for at least 15 years and its been serving Sydney siders for at least 35 years. It is an iconic Sydney restaurant if there ever was one, that has certainly stood the test of time. I met Nick at 4am last month and spent a couple of hours talking to him about what he does there and watching him work. He has amazing hands and a quick smile and shared some great stories with me. I really wanted to focus on the fabulous schnitzels they prepare by hand on a daily basis – mainly because most of Sydney would’ve eaten one… and if they haven’t, drop everything and get down there right now!

In the image, it is 4am and Nick is explaining to me how he cuts the schnitzel. He is actually unaware that I am taking his photograph as the camera is at my hip.

I am selling my Canon 85mm f1.2 .. it is in mint condition and only been used a few times. I won it from Canon Australia and it comes complete with UV filter, manual, box and bag. Msg me if you are interested.

Every year we go to the Ferragosto in Five Dock just to soak up all the colours, sunshine, music and Italian food! The weather is always fabulous and the stalls have the best pickings to choose from. There is food from all over the world, not to mention the toys, games, rides and vintage cars. I can’t resist taking my camera and capturing some of the day.

This gorgeous family were after a mini shoot to celebrate their new home, their last days as a family of three and to send their overseas family some beautiful family portraits. They update their portraits on a yearly basis with me and I think its the most gorgeous gift you can give to overseas family. I cannot wait to meet bubs and it was so lovely to hang out with you guys again! I was so excited to see a mandarin tree in full bloom outside and used it to its full advantage with the gorgeous winter sun filtering through the colours.

It was such a joy to spend time with your little girl again, whom I adore and it was so wonderful to see her connect so quickly with me even if this meant jumping on me half the time and dragging me inside (camera and all) into the tiny cubby house for some corn lol!

This has to be one of my favourite photos of all time. I was out shooting for my son’s school and was there to capture his first race. That grin of pure joy as he comes across the finish line is just magic to my heart. It also reminded me that although not technically perfect by any means, ‘the’ perfect moment has been captured and I will treasure it forever.
